The 2024-remanufactured Makino MCC2013VG is a six-axis horizontal machining center that drives 78.7 in X, 51.2 in Y and 51.2 in Z strokes across a 59 x 47 in table rated at 22 000 lb, giving heavy-fixture manufacturers room to square, mill and drill in one clamp. A two-range gearbox delivers 40 HP to an HSK-A100 taper, spinning 12 000 RPM for aluminum hog-outs or 410 ft-lb at 600 RPM for hard-metal roughing. The head tilts ±30 ° (A), swings ±185 ° (C) and the pallet rotates 360 ° (B) in 0.001-degree steps, so compound-angle features finish without reset. A 60-tool matrix changer feeds cutters in 3 s chip-to-chip, and 1 000 PSI through-spindle coolant plus flood keeps edges alive on deep bores. Pro 5 (Fanuc 30i) control stores 600 common macro variables; Renishaw part probing and Blum laser set tools automatically, while conveyors and a mist collector clear the work zone for lights-out schedules.

Compared with Makino’s MCC2013V—limited to 90° head swing, CAT-50 taper and 30 tools—the VG upgrade doubles rotary freedom, switches to HSK-A100 for tighter run-out, jacks tool count to 60 and adds non-contact tool measurement, yet the Pro 5 interface stays identical, so legacy code ports straight over while cycle time plunges.
